在孩子们心中燃起一团“绿色”的火！

我们但愿所有围绕4月22日地球日的活动，在孩子们心里燃起一团“绿色”的火——
今年地球日的主题是“投资我们的星球”（Invest In Our Planet）。围绕这样的主题，启明星校区小学部和中学部设计了一系列活动：
它们启发孩子们负责任地生活，关注“小我”身边的“大我”世界；也和生物、设计、视觉艺术、中文等学习实践紧密相联。不但如此，三里屯校区的中文绘本和回收艺术品展示还借由Patagonia品牌的直播，将孩子们呼吁大家用心生活、保护地球的热情散播出校园：
地球日嘉年华
游戏和亲身体验活动是激发兴趣、启发学生思考最直接的方式之一：由老师和中学生主持的科学知识竞赛特别受小学生喜欢！看大家的认真劲儿！
帮废纸箱实现新生，你可以信马由缰，脑洞大开！
小学的孩子们还有机会向同学和老师们展示、分享自己创作的中文绘本。看到自己的作品受到关注，小作者讲解的可认真了！
地球日 Earth Day
还可以领花种子，回家去种植。中学生们自制“种子炸弹”，用湿润的泥土包裹住种子，随手扔到身边的土地上就能发芽，很酷吧？
还有学生们自制的、地球主题的小饼干一路受到追捧。售卖所得都将用于支持慈善事业。
墨西哥的画彩蛋、用彩蛋祝福亲朋好友的传统也来到现场。
中学生们也继续修建花圃，并且展示自己的科学课研究项目——计算你的碳足迹。
城中心的庆祝
在位于市区核心区的三里屯校区，孩子们力求把爱护地球的概念带到有限的校园空间之外。
他们参加了本年度国际学校中文绘本比赛，围绕“同一个地球”主题绘制并向周边社区分享绘本，一直思考和传播爱护我们共有家园的理念。
3月，孩子们还举办了回收品物品艺术展，发挥想象，将家中的可回收物品变废为宝，制作成一件件满是创意的艺术品。
地球日这天，孩子们都收到花种作为仪式感的一部分；受到他们行动感染的Patagonia服装品牌更是在三里屯的门店为孩子们举办了绘本分享和回收品艺术展的直播活动。
“二手书市”和“有意义的”登山
启明星的家长从来不会缺席社区的重要活动。北皋校区的家长们组织了社区第三届二手书市。大家期望收集来的3000多本二手书能在启明星家庭间有效流转，实现资源的再利用。
地球日这天，启明星家长户外俱乐部在登山活动中随手清理路边的垃圾。
“投资我们的星球”，从某种意义上讲，“投资”的是孩子——作为最有能力影响未来世界的一代，我们真诚期待孩子们幼小的心灵中埋下胸怀天下的意识与勇气。
葡萄牙语诗人費爾南多·佩索阿有这样一行诗句：疲惫的人生不能没有诗意，我的心略大于宇宙。
我们改用在此：真正充实的成长不能缺少责任和价值感，我们的心略大于可见的身边。

We hope that the celebrations on Earth Day will kindle a “green” fire in the hearts of students.
April 22 was Earth Day. This year’s theme was “Invest in Our Planet.” The Daystar elementary and secondary schools designed a series of activities encourage students to live responsibly and care about both their own immediate surroundings and the world as a whole. What's more, all the activities are connected to design, science, language acquisition and etc.
Earth Day Carnival
Games and hands-on activities are some of the best ways to directly stimulate interest and inspire students to think:
The science quiz bowl hosted by teachers and secondary school students was extremely popular with the elementary students. Look how serious they were!
Another game involved giving a wastebasket new life. Let your imagination fly and design anything you want!
Elementary school students also had the opportunity to share the Chinese picture books they created with other students and teachers. The little authors were quite earnest in explaining their works due to the large amount of attention they received.
地球日 Earth Day
Another activity involved picking up some flower seeds to take home to plant. The secondary school students wrapped the seeds in moist soil to create seed bombs that could be thrown onto the ground and left to germinate naturally. Pretty cool, right?
Students also made small Earth-themed cookies, which quickly sold out at the carnival. All of the earnings will be donated to charity.
The carnival also included the Mexican tradition of painting Easter eggs and presenting them as blessings to friends and relatives.
Secondary school students tended flower gardens and displayed their science class research project—calculating your carbon footprint.
Celebrations at Heart of the City
This semester, Sanlitun students participated in the annual International School Chinese Picture Book Contest. They illustrated their books to fit the theme “One Earth” and shared their books with the surrounding communities. The students reflected on the concept of loving and protecting our common homeland and shared this idea with others.
In March students collected recyclable stuff, turned them into works of art, and brought them to school to display at the exhibition. Teachers designated a special area of the playground to create the exhibition space.
On Earth Day, students received flower seeds as celebrations. Clothing company Patagonia showed its support for the students’ hard work by hosting a livestream at their Sanlitun location to help promote the picture books.
“Second-hand books” and
“Hiking in the mountains”
Daystar parents are always present at our community activities. Recently, families at the Beigao campus organized their third second-hand book fair. They collected over 3,000 second-hand books and worked to circulate the books among all the Daystar families so that the books would be reused and these educational resources could be fully enjoyed.
On Earth Day, the Daystar Parents Outdoor Club helped clean up litter while hiking.
The idea of “investing in our planet” is much like “investing in our children.” This next generation is the most capable of making a difference in the world, and we sincerely hope that the seed of ambition and courage to care for the world will be planted in the heart of our children.
Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa once said, “we can’t live a fulfilling life without poetry; my heart is a little larger than the entire universe.”
Here, allow us to rephrase it to echo the Daystar values: we can’t live a true and fulfilling life without taking responsibilities; my heart is a little larger than the world around me.
